With all the healthy food trends out there, you may have heard of detoxing the body by eating superfoods and vegetable blends. When we detox our body, we are supporting our body’s own natural toxin-eliminating processes through our liver and the kidneys. To help detox the body, we give them nutrients and supplements to essentially strengthen these functions. Adding fruits and vegetables to your diet help the skin and body get rid of toxins. There are many green smoothie recipes but here is one that we recommend.

Green Smoothie

For this green smoothie, we focused on using lemon juice to help flush out toxins and spirulina (green-blue algae) to provide an extra boost in protein and fatty acids for the skin and body. Spirulina also helps add a nice color to your smoothie due to its natural pigmentation.

Blender
Knife to cut the fruits and vegetables if needed
Mason jar or cup

Ingredients

1 cup of pineapple (cut into chunks)
1 cup of mango slices
Some cucumber slices
4 leaves of parsley
2 handfuls of spinach
1 whole pear (sliced)
1 whole apple (sliced)
Some green grapes
Lemon juice from half a lemon
1 teaspoon of Spirulina powder
36 ounces of water, milk substitute, or orange juice

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add the pineapple, the mango slices, cucumber slices, and parsley leaves.

fruit and veggie2. Add in the spinach, pear, apple, some green grapes, juice from half a lemon (flushing out toxins), and spirulina into the blender.

3. Add in water or milk substitute, or orange juice, cover and blend until smooth.

4. Pour the smoothie into a cup and enjoy! To maximize the effects of the nutrients, drink immediately after blending.
