If you’re tired of your boring light fixtures at home and want to change them into beautiful new styles, here are 5 fun and easy tutorials for the ultimate makeover! Not only will they impress your guests, they will light up your world, literally.

 

Yarn Lamp Shade Table Lamp

Materials

1 Balloon
1 Sharpie
1 Brush
1 Light Bulb
Glue
Blue Yarn
Pink Yarn

Instructions

  1. Blow up a balloon and tie the end.
  2. Place the balloon on top of a bowl to stabilize it.
    With the balloon’s tied-up end facing up, use a rice bowl to trace a circle around it.
  3. Pour 1 cup of glue into a bowl and add ½ cup of water to it. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Start gluing the blue yarn onto the balloon with a brush. Wind it around the balloon, be sure to brush the glue onto each layer of blue yarn as you wind.home
  5. When you’ve created around 3 layers of blue yarn, cut it off.
  6. Tie one end of the pink yarn onto the end of the blue yarn, then start winding the pink yarn over the balloon. Brush the glue onto each layer as you wind.
  7. When you’ve created 2 layers of pink yarn, cut it off and tuck the loose end into the yarn layers.
  8. Apply a generous coating of glue all around the yarn, then let it sit to dry for 2-3 hours.
  9. After the glue has dried completely, pop the balloon with a toothpick or pin and remove it.home
  10. Insert the light bulb through the hole of the yarn mold. Turn it on and enjoy the romantic ambiance.home

 

Golden Feather Light

Materials

1 Magazine
1 Steel Straw
1 Hot Glue Gun
Gold Spray Paint
Decorative Lights
Feathers

Instructions

  1. Tear off 100 pages from a magazine.
  2. Take a piece of the loose page and roll it up around a steel straw.home
  3. Seal the ends with glue to create a long roll, then remove the straw. Continue this until you’ve made 100 paper straws.home
  4. Create a pentagon shape with 5 straws and glue them one over the other. This is your first layer.
  5. Attach more straws on top, 5 per layer in a pentagon shape.
  6. Continue to build the frame until you’ve used up all the straws.home
  7. Place the frame over a sheet of plastic or newspaper, then take the spray paint and spray over the frame evenly to cover each straw.home
  8. Let it sit to dry for 1-2 hours.
  9. Wind the decorative lights around the frame and glue the feathers around it for decoration.home

 

Rainbow Party Light

Materials

1 Light Bulb
Colored Sharpies

Instructions

  1. Hold the light bulb and choose a sharpie to color in ⅙ of the bulb.home
  2. Take a different color sharpie and color in another ⅙ of the bulb, continue coloring the bulb with different colored sharpies until you’re done with the entire bulb.home
  3. Place the light bulb on a lamp and enjoy the cool rainbow colors it emits.home

 

Forest Tree Branch Light Fixture

Materials

1 Balloon
1 Hot Glue Gun
Tree Branches
1 Toothpick

Instructions

  1. Blow up a balloon and tie the end.
  2. Take a tree branch and glue it onto the balloon with a hot glue gun. Glue more branches on top to attach them together.home
  3. Continue attaching more branches on the balloon until it’s thoroughly covered the balloon. Let it sit to dry for 2-3 hours.
  4. Pop the balloon with a toothpick and remove it.home
  5. Place the tree branches fixture over your ceiling light to transport your room into a wild forest.home

 

Golden Shell Candle Holder

Materials

1 Bowl
1 Paint Brush
1 Balloon
1 Toothpick
1 Bucket
1 Cutting Pliers
Gold Acrylic Paint
A Pair of Plastic Gloves
Quick-set Concrete

Instructions

  1. Blow up a balloon and tie the end.
  2. Place the balloon on top of a bowl.
  3. Pour 3 cups of quick-set concrete into a bucket, then gradually pour in water and mix until it becomes a thick paste.
  4. Put on plastic gloves and take a handful of the concrete paste, apply it onto the balloon from top to bottom, then around it until you’ve covered the entire balloon. Be sure to leave a small area on the bottom uncovered.home
  5. Let it sit to dry.
  6. Find the area which you didn’t apply concrete, pop the balloon with a toothpick or pin.home
  7. Pick up the bowl and detach the concrete by using pliers or simply cutting around the bowl.home
  8. When you’ve removed the concrete shell, place it on a flat surface.
  9. Dip a clean brush in gold paint and brush the insides of the concrete shell evenly.home
  10. Let it dry for 2-3 hours.
  11. Place your candles inside the mold.
  12. Light your room up with a magical ambiance.home
